Neuro-rehab

NERUO PT IN NEW YORK.jpeg

People who have suffered a neurological insult will be in the very best hands at Empower Physical Therapy. We realize that no two patients experience disease symptoms the same. Dr. Zanghi, a Board-Certified Specialist in Neurologic Physical Therapy, has extensive education beyond her Doctorate to provide the very best, and most current, treatments for patients living with neurological conditions.

We use principals of neuroplasticity, the ability of the brain to form new connections and pathways, as the foundation for our treatments. These unique and person-specific treatments promote and strengthen pathways which lead to significant improvements in function, transfers, coordination, balance, and gait.

balance & fall prevention

Did you know that falls are preventable and yet the number one cause of hospitalizations in seniors? Falls can also be a source of fear and result in medical complications. Fortunately, physical therapy can help. As it is said about strength, “you don’t use it, you lose it,” balance is something that can be improved upon with challenges and practice.

Dr. Zanghi’s unique methodology determines why you are falling, what areas require strengthening, and which exercises will be best for you and your lifestyle.

Balance Conditions

  • Changes in blood pressure

  • Dizziness

  • Fatigue

  • History of falling with and without injury

  • Imbalance of posture or body systems (i.e. tight muscles)

Classes

Empower offers evidence-based group classes. This means we use the MOST recent research to get you the BEST results. Our classes are led by a Doctor of Physical Therapy and are small, with an average of 5 members per class, to ensure individual attention and safety. These are a great addition to your one on one physical therapy sessions or as a way to maintain fitness in a group setting.

STROKE CLASS.png

The Advanced Stroke Recovery Program is a class for people living with life after a stroke. It is an evidence-based program designed to use brain-changing exercise to build cardiovascular fitness, improve function and mobility, and decrease risk of falls. We meet in small groups, twice a week for 60 minutes of intense exercise. Dr. Zanghi focuses on providing you with the best stroke-specific challenges through strength, balance, agility, and cognitive exercises. You will receive a pre-screening using objective testing prior to beginning the class, with ongoing reassessment throughout the program, to track your individual progress and allow us to tailor the program to your unique needs.

Classes are held Tuesday and Thursday at the following times:

10:45am-11:45am and 12:00pm- 1:00pm
